Adult Education/GED Preparation

One out of every four Alabamians cannot read a simple children’s book, cannot read the newspaper and cannot fill out a job application. We are extremely happy to serve as one of the Adult Education sites for the Wallace Community College, Dothan, Alabama. At this site, students who are eighteen years old or older and who have not received a high school diploma may attend classes that provide GED testing preparation and/or literacy skills that are needed to improve reading skills. This site was implemented in March of the year 2001 and since that time we have had several students to successfully pass the GED Test granting them a diploma equivalent to a high school diploma.

Sunday School

Our Sunday school program at GBBC is developed around a TEAMS approach. We have five classes with thirteen TEAM Core members each. The core members are responsible for teaching, evangelizing, contacting and remaining in touch with the sick and shut in, planning fellowship periods, and as numbers increase, helping to build other classes. Our classes consist of the following groups identified through either age or gender:

            Bible Kingdom                                 Ages nine and under
            Young Crusaders                            Ages ten to thirteen
            TYME Zone                                     Ages fourteen to eighteen
            W.O.R.D. Sunday school class       Women of God desiring a spiritual harvest
            Men’s Class                                      Real Men love Sunday school
             Classes meet every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m.

Greeters
When visitors come to worship with us at GBBC, they are greeted with opened arms. We want them to feel a part of our church family. By the same token, we want our own members to feel that same sentiment. The warm, friendly faces and smiles of the GBBC greeters make everyone in attendance feel welcomed and wanted. Their ministry can set the tone for the entire worship experience and have far reaching results in the future. The ministry:

Greets members and visitors entering the church as a communication that they are welcomed, they are loved, and that it’s good to see them in worship service.
Keeps in touch with visitors, expressing the joy felt as a result of their visit, and inviting them to come again.
Participates in orientation of new members accompanied by Pastor and/or appointed minister.

Children/Youth Ministry

The GBBC youth ministry is one that “leaves no child behind.” Strong emphasis is placed on training the child, both spiritually and educationally. Spiritual training is made possible through the Sunday school program: Bible Kingdom Class, Young Crusaders Class, and TYME Zone Class. It is also made possible through weekly Bible study (WOW, Wild Out Worship). Wild Out Worship gives the perfect mix of exciting games, special guests and a cutting edge Bible lesson that is designed just for youth.
Educational training is provided through our Christian Academy (pre-kindergarten through second grade) and through mentoring and tutoring programs. There is also a fantastic sports program designed for all youth including basketball, baseball, and softball. Teens have the opportunity to work with the Media Ministry operating cameras, computers, and other devices necessary for the producing of audio or video materials.

Outreach Ministry

     Love is our calling. We love one another because God first loved us. We recognize that there are times in our lives when we will have situations of difficulty and need someone to walk with us through the journey.
     When a member or a loved one is in the hospital, if there is a loss of a loved one, or if special needs arise, the Pastor and church family will be with you. The outreach committee composed of caring, loving members make hospital visits, home visits, and/or telephone calls to help those in need through their time of illness or hardship.

\Music Ministry

The song writer says, “Grateful! Grateful! Grateful! Grateful! The music ministry of Greater Beulah Baptist Church is “grateful for the things that He (God) has done. We’re grateful for the victories we’ve won. We go on and on and on, singing about His works because we’re grateful, grateful, so grateful for the things He has done in our lives, our church, and our music ministry. Gratefulness flows from our hearts as the mass choir, praise team, and youth choir minister to the congregation through song. We love the Lord and we sing His praises weekly.

Praise Dance Ministry

At GBBC we also worship the Lord in dance. Our dance ministry reaches into all age categories: girls, young adult women, and senior adult women. Psalm 150 says “Praise him with the timbrel and dance. . .”

Christian Family Life Center

Our Christian Family Life Center serves the community as a nucleus for ALL to come together for good Christian fun and fellowship i.e. a community basketball league, game room, social functions, family gatherings, group meetings, etc. A walking track and exercise room are also available for those in the community concerned about improving health.

Media Ministry

This ministry makes it possible for those in the community who are unable to attend worship services to view it on local television networks. Presently our ministry is broadcast on three networks throughout the Dothan area, expanding over a geographic area in excess of 100 miles and reaching a viewing public each week of more than 300,000 people.
